THE INITIATED GUIDE

INDIA SANTAMARÍA

VISUAL ARTIST AND SYMBOLIC RESEARCHER

Her work integrates art, language, ritual, perception, and contemporary technologies as forms of intervention upon experience and systems of meaning.

Through regressive hypnosis, symbolic analysis, ritual aesthetics, and narrative observation, she develops processes oriented toward the resignification of deep patterns of perception, identity, and existential repetition.

In 1998, she received ritual authorization from an Acharya —a traditional figure of spiritual initiation and transmission within  Vedic lineages— for the practice of Samskara Shuddhi, a ritual discipline traditionally restricted to monastic contexts. Since then, she has developed this practice for more than 28 years within frameworks of symbolic research, ritual work, and transformation of consciousness.

She is the author of the article Scientific Research in Complementary Psychotherapies Through Art, Mythology and Ritual as Ancestral Healing Techniques, published in the Psychiatry and Mental Health Journal of the Horwitz Barak Hospital at the University of Chile, where together with a group of Danish researchers she conducted a preliminary EEG-based study analyzing the effects of Samskara Shuddhi and other ancestral practices on processes associated with cerebral neuroplasticity.

Her practice combines ritual tradition, critical thought, artistic direction, and the exploration of states of consciousness, constructing a space where symbol, language, and image operate as technologies of transformation.

‍Estrato Simbólico emerges as a living investigation into the relationship between perception, narrative, body, memory, and destiny.
